A Month Of Posts ... Day 2

Hello all, me again!! Both of the pictures in today's post are Anniversary cards for a special couple. They actually celebrated their anniversary last weekend, but as I mentioned yesterday, I'm a little bit behind with my posting!!

This first picture is the card that Donna gave her husband Ed

Whilst this second card is for Donna & Ed from their three Daughters

You might have noticed that the second card features Boofle? We've recently added Boofle to the collection of characters we now use with our card making. We can and do of course use any character you require as our cards are tailor made to our customers specifications. When it comes to characters though we do tend to find that Tatty Teddy is the most popular ... which to be perfectly honest are usually the rather expensive cards to buy in the shops. I was actually horrified recently to find an A5 card in one of the card shops was priced at £4.39!! It wasn't even anything particularly special either, it was just a small circular image in the centre of the card with some wavy lines along the side. I honestly couldn't believe it, especially when we only charge £2 for the same sized card which is personalised and individual ... it's not mass produced so when we make the card, you're buying something that no-one else has.

After buying the Boofle imagery to use, I was feeling a little inquisitive so went back to the same card store to look at the prices of the Boofle cards. To say I was horrified was a bit of an understatement. With the price we pay for the imagery use it's quite frankly disgusting that the card stores can charge so much for such a basic image. The Boofle card in question was simply a  large Boofle printed onto a piece of card with no background so the shape of the card was Boofle ... that cost £1.89!!! To purchase something along the lines of the Boofle card above would be £5+ ... whilst yet again we charge £2.50 ...either we're charging too little or the card shop is way too overpriced (maybe that's why they're struggling!). I appreciate that the stores have rent, delivery, and staffing costs to pay, but theirs are mass produced to the extent of them probably costing pennies to make. Personally going into a card shop to purchase something that everyone else has  now feels a little cold to me. I'd much prefer a personalised card that I know the person has had some input in it's design rather than the same old thing again and again. I'll also admit there's times where you just need something basic, which is where the card shops do come in handy, so they do still have their uses!!

Sometimes when making a card the meaning behind them isn't always obvious. Take for example the Boofle card above, you'll have noticed it says Mum & Dad Anniversary ... what isn't so obvious though is there's 3 characters on that card. The couple it was made for have 3 Daughters, therefore the characters represent the three children wishing their Mum & Dad a happy anniversary ... would you be able to find that meaning in a shop brought card so easily?? When making a personalised card you can not only put the not so common names onto them, but also tailor make them to represent who they're from and who they're to.

The old saying "It's the thought that counts" is definitely true in my opinion!

A Month Of Posts ... Day 1

It seems I've not been paying much attention to making posts recently ... I think I've been far too busy making all kinds of creations that I've almost forgotten the internet exists!! So I've decided to get back to it ... and what better way than to set myself a challenge!! Yep, as of today May 10th I'm going to make a post a day for a whole month!! Apologies now if I bore you all to death!!

So then, what's been keeping me so busy?? Well back at the start of April I decided I was going to get ahead on all the orders we have for the year so far. The idea is if we can get ahead on the everyday orders then we'll have plenty of time to make Christmas creations gradually throughout the year rather than be swamped with things to make at the end of the year!! Plus if the sunshine does arrive (although right now it seems unlikely!) we'll also get some time to get out there and enjoy it all!! The only problem I've found with being so far ahead is that I've got far too many things I'm dying to share but can't... people really need to have birthdays earlier hahaha!! Being unable to share things has left me feeling a little confused as to what I can post up and when, so I guess I've just kind of forgotten to post things all together!!

As of today though I'm going to change all that. I should probably tell you now that these posts will probably seem a little higgledy piggledy as I'm starting my challenge with a birthday card that was given today, even though I've got some projects from previous dates still to show you ... bear with me though as I'm sure by the end I'll start making sense!!

So today's post as I said is a birthday card that was given today...

A jubilee inspired card with a garden party theme for a tatty teddy fan ... personally I think it's cute but then I'm probably a little bit biased!! Happy Birthday Louise ... hope you enjoy your time away x

In other news today ... Mum's pink bag with felt flowers creation was entered into the crafty ribbons blog challenge this weekend and guess what?? Ooo yep she was chosen as one of the top three entries ... congrats Mum xxx You can check out her winning post here and all the other entries here. We'll now get to display a very special badge on this blog all thanks to Mum ... so proud.

Well, I guess that's all from me today ... I'll be back tomorrow with another creation to share with you all.

Mum's felt phase

Have been playing with felt over the past couple of weeks.I have been making flowers for little's  picture frames and for her cushions and she has been making letters and then having the flowers on them.I then found a bag that has been sitting around for about a year so have used it to make a gift bag for my mum to put her present in instead of buying a bag that everybody will have.I have also been making christmas decorations ready for the new tree that I will be buying this year just don't tell anyone as I will be in trouble as I've been told we already have too many.I'll share a bit of a secret...This is my first blog on my own but Little (the grammar police) likes to correct my spelling and grammar so not really on my own!!!!

Easter Surprises By Lady ...

Yesterday was of course Good Friday, which in the land of Little-Lady's meant one thing ... Easter card swapping time!!! Lady, Mum and I all swapped Easter surprises whilst sitting in the sunshine with a coffee. Crusty would have joined us, but she was far too busy sleeping off the rather late night before!!

I'd love to share the Easter makes that Mum, Crusty and I have made, but we won't be swapping those about until Easter Sunday, so I can't ruin the surprises!! So all the creations in the following picture are made by Lady ...

How pretty are they? There's the Fizzy Moon Picture hanging in the tree beautifully cross stitched by Lady for Mum. There's the little decoupage Forever Friends Easter card which I think is Lady's first decoupage card.... so so pretty. There's the large card on the left with the Easter chick in the teapot cross stitched and put together beautifully onto the card which you can probably guess was made for me as it's got my name on the egg!! Then most impressively of all there's my Easter basket filled with all my favourite sweeties ... Lady knows me far too well!! Ooo and before anyone asks, no I'm not sharing the chocolates they're all mine haha!! As they've all put a rather large smile on our faces I couldn't wait any longer to share them.

Once again Lady, a huge big Thank You from Mum, Crusty and me xxx

Ooo but before I forget, the Easter tree with the eggs was made by Mum and will be taking spot place on our Easter table tomorrow ... she's been determined to have an Easter tree for quite some time now, and finally put it together this morning!! Hope everyone has a great Easter weekend.
